AN ANNOUNCEMENT TO OUR CUSTOMERS ABOUT REGULAR WEEKLY BUFFET DINING
After Sunday, January 13, 2019 The Manor will discontinue service of our restaurant’s weekly buffet (buffet only). Following that date, we invite you to dine with us instead in The Manor’s Terrace Lounge à la carte restaurant.
Why will The Manor no longer be offering regular weekly buffet dining?
As The Manor continues to evolve over our 60-year-plus history as a restaurant and event venue, we strive to remain in touch with our customers, and be proactive in maintaining and furthering our reputation for exemplary quality, service, and refined cuisine. It has become an economic reality for us that to continue providing the extensive lavish buffet that is on par with our standards, without further increasing costs, is not sustainable. We refuse the alternative of accepting lower standards or providing a lesser quality of food or service to our friends and guests. As you may have noticed in recent years, we have increased the price of the buffet to keep up with major increases in food and labor costs, and still have absorbed much of the costs ourselves. But we have listened to our customers’ feedback and do not wish to further pass any costs on to our customers. We will not charge more and will not offer you less.
This was obviously a very difficult decision for us as we loved dearly offering this concept to our guests, but it was a decision that had to be made. Thus, with the goal of keeping The Manor’s standards high and being fair to our customers in pricing, we are returning our focus to the core of the business as it started, with a fine dining à la carte experience. For all of our guests who have enjoyed the tradition of a buffet dinner at The Manor, we welcome you to continue dining with us in our Terrace Lounge à la carte restaurant, which is open for dinner Wednesday through Sunday and offers additional amenities including our popular tableside service and in-room bar. Wednesday nights also offer an excellent BYO option in addition to an always changing “secret” wine list with some surprising wines and very approachable prices. An additional option available in our Terrace Lounge à la carte restaurant is our separate featured Chef’s Signature Menu which highlights interesting creations from our chef de cuisine with multiple courses, each with wines carefully paired by our wine director.
We’re also already at work developing new dining experiences for our guests, including a prix-fixe dining menu in our Terrace Lounge. Also of note, a new concept in à la carte Sunday brunch is in development, to be introduced this year.
For guests who’ve enjoyed our lavish buffet as a holiday tradition, The Manor will be offering our standard Holiday Buffet Dinners for Valentine’s Day, Mother’s Day, Easter, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year’s Eve in our newly refreshed Starlight Gardens & Imperial rooms.
What we’ve come to learn over our half-century in business is that what our guests value most is the experience, the quality of our food, the service, and our way of doing things–not just any one particular format of dining. And with that knowledge, we’re continuing our tradition of dining at The Manor while also continuing our history of always evolving to meet the needs of our customers. It is solace for us too to know that we have many great customers who we can count on for supporting us as we make this change in focus. We thank all of you who have dined with us in our buffet and welcome you to come dine with us at The Manor again soon.
Can we still have dinner at The Manor?
Yes. The popularity of The Manor’s Terrace Lounge à la carte restaurant has been steadily increasing. With this in mind, we are also already in the process of making several changes and upgrades to the dining experience. Décor and menu changes are already in process and we are excited about being able to share the opportunities to come with this dining room.
*Our buffet dining is also still available until January 13, 2019.
The popularity of The Dome Lounge at The Manor, which offers a more casual menu along with entertainment, has also steadily been growing in popularity with our guests, offering an additional dining option. (Wine tastings, live musical performances, and other individual food and entertainment experiences are also a part of The Manor’s offerings in The Dome. Stay tuned for our growing list of new events to come.)
And as always, we welcome hosting private dining event experiences from 10 to over 200 guests.
Which public dining options are discontinued after January 13, 2019?
– Buffet brunch, lunch, and dinner in The Manor Room.
What other dining options are there?
– Dinner in our Terrace Lounge à la carte restaurant will continue to be served. (first floor of The Manor)
– A more casual dining option can also be enjoyed in our Dome Rooftop Lounge (upstairs at The Manor)
– Custom private group fine dining experiences for small parties, in addition to our large banquet-style events.
– And our Romantic Getaway package for dinner in The Manor’s Terrace Lounge and an overnight stay at our sister hotel next door is still a great option for a special occasion.
Will you still be offering dinner on the holidays?
Yes. A prix-fixe holiday dining option will also be available in our Terrace Lounge à la carte restaurant.
New on the horizon:
We’re also already at work developing new dining experiences for our guests, including a prix fixe dining menu in our Terrace Lounge. Also of note, a new concept in à la carte Sunday brunch is in development, to be introduced this year. You may also notice in 2019 on your next visit, ongoing renovations and the refreshing of spaces. One of which is already underway – The Greenery of our Terrace Lounge restaurant, overlooking The Manor’s gardens.
I have a gift coin/gift card for The Manor. Can I still use it?
Absolutely. The Manor gift coins and gift cards do not expire and can be used in our Terrace Lounge à la carte restaurant at The Manor, as well as in The Dome Rooftop Lounge at The Manor. Our gift coins and gift cards can also be used for private dinner and parties. Additionally, Manor gift coins and gift cards can also be used at our sister restaurant around the corner, Highlawn Pavilion (overlooking the Manhattan skyline in Eagle Rock Reservation, West Orange).
