Showcasing The Manor’s Storied Past

Keeping Our History Alive While Making Changes For The Future

Now hanging in The Manor, along the reconfigured walls of the former Carolina Room, is a gallery of images that reflects upon the long and storied history of our restaurant and event venue.

Set on richly-adorned, earth-toned damask-patterned walls, the photos, now framed and engraved, mark special moments in time. The images are but a small sampling of the events across the years that we’ve hosted and the people with whom we’ve enjoyed them.

Each photo was thoughtfully curated from our extensive image archive and reproduced for display by Keri Knowles, who was also integral to leading and managing the complex tasks of the overall renovation project. She applied her background and training in art and design to take on this niche task as a small part of her more demanding duties.

As granddaughter of The Manor’s founders, she has spent a lifetime seeing the type of events showcased in the photos being put together and getting to know many of the people in the images.  In addition to generations of our former guests, the photos also offer a glimpse of some of the talented chefs, servers and other staff who have walked The Manor’s halls.

And now, some of those halls are dressed with their photos, making the space not simply a corridor to an elevator, or just a public space to gather or sit, but something more—something that speaks to traditions established here over a half-century ago and a reminder to us to continue to strive to create the type of special memories that these photos remind us of every time we pass them.

Keri’s reverence and appreciation for what her grandparents created while her drive to continue to move The Manor forward are thoughtfully expressed through the creation of this gallery. The project was truly a labor of love. Just to unarchive, organize, digitize, and prepare the space to accommodate the images took countless hours of attention.

We hope on your next visit to The Manor, you’ll pause to look at these photos, and see, at the same time, the depth of our history and our changes for the future.
